“The style and variety in her catalog is astounding. I have used her music with an all ninth grade group and with my most accomplished auditioned choirs.” Robert Pontious, former tenor, Dale Warland Singers and Director of Mahtomedi High School Choirs
“You stop and talk to these composers because its new music and you might find something you love, and goodness, this girl has hit it,” ~ The Kearny Hub - Dr. David Bauer, University of Nebraska Kearney
Catherine Dalton specializes in vocal compositions that are inspired by classical, jazz, folk, world music and chant. Her music has been performed by such groups as Vox Femina Los Angeles, Aurora Chorus, Camerata Nova, and the internationally known new music ensemble Zeitgeist, in addition to singers Carrie Henneman-Shaw, Jeffrey Hess and Nicole Warner and numerous choirs across the United States and abroad.
Her organically-composed pieces use everyday life and the entanglement of experience as their common palette. Whether setting her own lyrics or the carefully selected texts of others, these intersections of life and art explore the personal to the worldly, the everyday to the profound. From topics such as hardship and uncommon courage, to mystical experience and everyday joy, Dalton’s compositions bring a fresh, but timeless presence to any program.
Dalton lives in Minnesota with her husband, three children, two cats, and a guinea pig. She currently sings with One Voice Mixed Chorus, Harmonia and her church choir.
